Andrew's School Party {and some news}

Andrew had his class Halloween party last week and I thought I'd share some pictures with you.

Mr. Man the morning of the party. Cute shirts. It reads:
"Fear not, God is with you." Isaiah 41:10

 Being silly at the party.

My sweet little boys. I left Alex's cup in the car - just didn't think about it. Well, of course, Alex ended up wanting a drink and the juice boxes were all gone. Andrew shared his juice box with his little brother! Isn't he the sweetest?!

Now, that last picture is wonderful to me. That pictures shows me that Andrew is a very good brother, someone who cares for others, and a great child. However, one of his teachers thinks other wise.

Actually the director and the teacher think otherwise.

Last year was Andrew's first year at a preschool. I needed that bit of time with just Alex as he was about 6 months old and there were other things going on in my life that, at the time, did not seem to be anything I could control. His teachers - both of them - were wonderful! We love them dearly. They are the best. THE BEST.

This year? Oh no no no. I had a not so good feeling about one of them and let it go for a while to see if I just had higher expectations since last year was awesome. Well, Andrew has come home from school a more than enough times sad, upset, etc. He said he doesn't want to go. He doesn't like Ms. _____. He pitches a fit to get out of the car. His teacher, I'm sorry, needs to go elsewhere. She is complaining that Andrew doesn't sit still. Andrew doesn't be quiet during story time. I'm sorry...he's 3.THREE. He is three. And he just turned 3, sweetie. Just like 1/2 of your class. Brand new three year olds.

After a long weekend, Jason and I decided that he is done with preschool this year. We asked Andrew at dinner about school. The second we say "school" he turns away from us. Finally, we asked him if he wanted to go to a new school with his friends from church. His eyes lit up and that sweet smile of his grew super big! That is fine with us, honey!

Then this week, I made the calls to his friends' moms to let them know what was going on. Then I called the director. Oh, let me tell you... I told her that it just didn't seem like a good fit for him this year so we were going to take another route. Well, instead of being concerned about the "whys"she says, "Yes, we think he may be a little immature this year."

I'm sorry? WHAT?! Do you people see that picture above this rant? How is he immature? Explain this to me. I'm dying to know what they call mature for a three year old. I know a few of them and um...THEY ARE JUST LIKE MY LITTLE MAN.

Grrr...

So, for the remainder of this school year, we are going to be attempting homeschooling. We will see how it works out. If all goes well, then we may just continue to homeschool until kindergarten and then send him to private school. But for now that's our plan.

But seriously...he is three. If anyone out there knows where to get a toddler sized straight-jacket, please do tell. Kidding, of course. I'm just so over this.

This isn't really a real preschool...it is more like a glorified mother's day out. It was my way of actually getting some errands done or the house semi-cleaned while I had (at the time) an infant at home. So, it is not one of these "accredited"programs or anything.

Who here has had issues with preschool? What did you do about it?
